Green can be used inside or out but green is much more visible outside and can be used to engage targets in similar circumstances. Different wavelengths in the visible spectrum produce different colors. The human eye is better able to recognize colors in the green spectrum so a green laser is more visible under bright light conditions. Red is higher on the spectrum at 635 nanometers.

From the target s point of view having a red laser dot on your chest is very impactful. Not sure it makes that much difference in laser sights. Jason mackay 4 years ago. Green is close to the center of the visible light spectrum at about 532 nanometers.

The eye s frequency response is bell curve shaped with the highest point of the curve being in the green while the red lies on the right end of the bell curve.
